Frequently Asked Questions
Reflexology combines the ancient healing modalities of acupressure and reflex points in the feet and ankles to unblock chi throughout the body’s twelve meridians. This stimulates your organs through the autonomic nervous system, which in turn controls the involuntary or partially voluntary activities of your body, including heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature regulation. In my 2 decades of treatment, I’d say the proof is in my long list of healed and happy heeled clients! From a scientific perspective, a lot of research has been done on the subject with very interesting results, although no research has yet proved the existence of energy lines in the body, so too has no research been able to disprove it. In general, Reflexology is recognized as a safe and beneficial complementary therapy.
Absolutely. Reflexology is well known to relieve psychological symptoms of stress by reducing anxiety and muscle tension, calming our mood, improving the quality of sleep, and facilitating the feeling of well-being.
That will depend entirely on your specific case. I have patients who come through whenever they feel like it or can, and I have regular bi-weekly, weekly and monthly patients – and of course as their conditions improve so their treatment frequency adjusts. The severity and type of problem as well as the speed at which you want it resolved all affect the length, frequency and need for ongoing treatment. You may choose to have just one session, or a series of close sessions, or spaced out maintenance sessions. We can discuss this together once I have been able to fully assess your condition.
Nothing at all – there are no special requirements, you can come straight from work or being out, as you are, and I will take care of your feet.
Please don’t worry – I have seen it all, and probably worse than yours. I am a therapist and healer – I am here to help you with your problems, so you don’t need to feel embarrassed around me. If you are concerned that an issue may affect treatment, let me know and we can discuss it together.
A therapeutic reflexology treatment needs to be an hour at least, and can last up to two hours at most. This is affected by the size of feet and level of tension in the muscles. You can have a look at our treatment options available on our treatments page. If you are unsure what length treatment you need, feel free to discuss this with me.
